There are over 10,000 different species of ants known to inhabit the Earth, 4 of which are particularly prevalent in Aurora. The first step in eradicating ant infestations is to identify the species. The type of treatment methodical vary drastically depending on the type of ant. In Aurora, we most commonly treat:

Argentine Ants – Argentine ants live in colonies of thousands and are extremely fast reproducers. They are one of the most common pests to deal with, as many homeowners may see these ants return each year. Signs of an infestation could be visible trails of ants scavenging for shelter, food and/or water sources.

Carpenter Ants – These ants are often confused with termites as they tunnel through wooden structures in an extremely similar manner, although they do not consume wood like termites. They can be extremely destructive pests and are known for being rather persistent.

Odorous Ants – These ants earned their name from the particularly pungent smell they emit if squashed. Odorous ants aren’t physically dangerous as they do not bite or sting but they can become extremely annoying and especially smelly.

Pavement Ants – Pavement ants earned their name due to their tendency to build nests under floors, cracks, and sidewalks – leaving behind sand, dust, and dirt in their wake. If they are in your home, you might find them behind your walls or inside insulation.
