How Much Does Pest Control Cost?

Average Price of Services

Pest control prices can vary drastically based on several different factors, the primary of which are the frequency of services and the type of services being provided due to the pest issue. Different frequencies of pest control typically fall under the following categories:

  • One-Time Service – These treatments are only typically done for specific issues such as the removal of a wasp nest or bed bug extermination, which can be successfully completed with one service. The prices on these treatments can vary drastically (from $200-$7,000) depending on which pest is being dealt with, the severity of the infestation, and more.
  • Monthly Plan – While pest control companies rarely treat on a monthly basis, some do operate the billing schedule for Quarterly Treatments on a monthly schedule
  • Quarterly Services – This is not only the most common but also the most effective pest control frequency plan. In a customer’s first year with such services, there are typically 5 services that take place, while all following years consist of 4 maintenance treatments a year with free follow-ups in between if needed.
  • Seasonal Services – This primarily refers to mosquito treatments as these are typically only done during the summer months and early fall.

Sites like HomeGuide.com and HomeAdvisor.com cite the national averages per visit for quarterly and seasonal services to be about $170, or within the range of $100 to $270. If charged monthly, this breaks down to about $60 per month. No matter which way the payment plan is arranged, the total for yearly services averages about $740 per year, and some companies (Pointe included!) will offer a discount for any customers who pay in full for a year. However, these averages are not always true. The type of pest that is being treated can also greatly impact the cost of the treatments, causing prices to depart from the aforementioned averages. For example, difficult pests, such as roaches, rodents, and bed bugs can require a variety of different or more powerful tools than average pest abatement, as well as significantly more attention, consideration, and planning in order to truly get the problem under control. As such there is sometimes an added cost involved with treating such infestations or, in the case of pests like bed bugs or fleas, there could be a separate treatment process entirely that has its own pricing guidelines.

What Factors into the Cost of the Service?

Along with the frequency of services offered and pest problem at hand, there are a variety of factors that contribute to the prices you are quoted. These include:

  • Products – Pest companies can use a variety of different treatments around your home. At Pointe, we make sure our sprays, granules, and other products are all top quality so that they are safe for you, your pets, and the environment.
  • Tools – “An exterminator is only as good as his tools.” …This is more or less true. One of the main reasons people seek to hire pest control is that we possess the correct professional-grade tools to eliminate pests both safely and effectively. After all, you wouldn’t want a pest control company to roll up to your home with a few simple traps purchased from your local Walmart…
  • Technician’s Knowledge, Expertise, and Licensing – Unfortunately, this is not always true for pest companies… but at Pointe Pest Control, our technicians are licensed and undergo rigorous training in order to provide you with top quality service
  • Square Footage – This is typically the factor that determines if you are on the higher or lower end of the average pricing for pest services. It requires far less product, time, and effort to treat a 700sqft home than it does to treat a 5,000sqft home, which is why the price will adjust accordingly to match the area that is being treated.

At Pointe Pest, we always provide free quotes for services and will even conduct free inspections in order to quote for specialty pest services such as bed bugs, roaches, etc.
