It’s ‘Pest’ Control… Not ‘Pet’ Control!

Don’t Kick Cats

In the Centennial Hills area of Las Vegas, Nevada in late May this year, a ring camera captured a rather shocking video. The footage shows a pest control salesman approaching the front of the home as a friendly-looking black cat trots up to greet him. The young man appears to look around quickly, as though trying to be sure no one is watching, before bracing the side of the home to deliver a powerful kick to the cat, launching her off the porch and into the yard. Thankfully, the cat is reportedly uninjured following the incident and the owner says she is now being kept indoors 24/7 to avoid any other horrible situations like this. Soon after the incident, the video was uploaded to a local forum in order to warn others in the community of the dangerous and abusive individual. It wasn’t long before the post began to be shared outside of the forum, and it soon went viral, leading to public outrage.

The Response

In the following days, it was determined that the animal abuser was employed at Williams Pest Control as a part time sales representative. As the individual was currently on the clock when the incident occurred, people quickly descended upon the business, showering it with negative reviews and contacting the office in anger. The owner of the Las Vegas based company, Royce Williams, publicly commented on the matter, stating that the company condemns the actions of the man in the video and that he is no longer employed with them due to his despicable actions. Williams also requested reprieve from the public as the company was reportedly receiving significant harassment, including death threats, due to the actions of an individual that were neither supported nor tolerated by the company.

Protecting Pets

While both unsettling and disturbing the video is, thankfully, a solitary incident and the cat is relatively unscathed. Regardless, at Pointe Pest Control, we were beyond saddened to hear about what occurred and wanted to ensure our community that we are dedicated to the safety and security of pets. Our treatments are safe to be used around your furry friends and many of our services (like our tick and flea abatement) are meant to protect your pets just as much as you. We love pets, and we support all of our customers and community members who are pet owners and pet lovers!
